Before we get into talking about best rescue club and what makes it earn that title, let’s talk about what rescue golf clubs are and when they are used. (Experienced golfers can skip to reviews). Rescue club is just another name for hybrid that you use to hit golf balls from bad spots on the golf course (roughs). Because of their bigger heads rescue clubs tend to be much more forgiving and easy to hit, especially for beginners. It also gives the golfer much more control than most clubs. These clubs rescue you from awkward positions that you’d have no way out of otherwise. Hence, the name – rescue clubs. That’s why many game-improvement club sets replace irons with hybrids of similar loft.

Hybrids 515x231 500x231

The term rescue club stands for more than just random hybrid. Most commonly, rescue clubs are synonymous with wood-style club. Sometimes people also call them utility clubs. TaylorMade, as in most other spectres of golf club development, was a  pioneer in making rescue clubs. In fact, they are called that after the first TaylorMade hybrid that was launched in early two thousands.

Because of their popularity among beginners, there are many rescue clubs on the market, but choosing the best one from the pile can be a bit daunting. With this post, i thought i’d try to make sense of all the complicated details that are associated with buying any golf club and more specifically, rescue club.

How to choose the best rescue club in 2020

No one can tell you which golf club is going to work best for you without knowing the ins and outs of your situation and needs. There are plenty of excellent rescue clubs on the market. I’ve reviewed three of them below, the ones that are most commonly thought of as “best rescue club” but the truth is, it depends on individual. So if you notice that none of the clubs from my list seem to work for you, either because of budget constraints or other incompatibility, don’t worry. There are plenty of other choices that you can consider.

Most importantly, you should pay attention to ratings and reviews of a rescue club before buying it. Pamphlets and websites should be expected to be biased towards selling you the product, but customers have nothing to gain from lying to you, so they’re more truthful. Product listings online can be helpful in checking significant technicalities, such as : how many sizes does the product come in? Does the rescue club include headcover? What’s the most relevant price for this club? Online stores like Amazon and GlobalGolf are good places to check prices for golf clubs because their prices tend to be most competitive. Online stores, especially eBay, Craigslist, CallawayPreowned and GlobalGolf are also very good sources to check if you’re tight on budget and want to buy pre-owned golf clubs.

TaylorMade Men’s AeroBurner 2016 Hybrid Club

Easily one of the best hybrid clubs made by TaylorMade. Thanks to its thin face and other design improvements from previous model, it’s very forgiving and easy to hit, even for complete beginners. Price may seem high at first glance, and maybe it is, but critics should keep in mind that one should expect to pay premium for high quality. It is also priced very competitively, especially when compared to other rescue clubs. This is definitely one of, if not the best rescue club around right now. Perfect for beginners who want to replace long irons with something more forgiving and easy to hit.

TaylorMade Men’s M2 Rescue Club (Also Newer M4 Version)

Main advantages of this rescue club are its improved design and reliability to consistently deliver results. It’s not the cheapest rescue club on the list, but it’s definitely one of the high-end options on the market. You should take note that unlike most rescue golf clubs, this one doesn’t come with headcover. There is also upgraded version – M4 Rescue club, which came out just this year. It hasn’t been out for long, but almost all golfers who tried it are reporting increase in distance as well as overall quality of game. So if you’re looking for best rescue club for reasonable price, either M2 or M4 hybrids might just be what you’re looking for.

Pinemeadow Excel EGI Hybrid

While not being as universally well-reviewed by customers as other two clubs on this list, the consensus on this club is that it’s perfect for people on tight budget looking to get their first club of this class. It is also very good as a backup option for people who already have other rescue club. It costs about one-third or fourth of most rescue clubs on the market, so obviously, it’s not going to hold up in serious competition, so if you’re experienced golfer, don’t expect too much from this club. If you’re on a tight budget, get a used premium quality club.
